ABOUT US

Previously a Council run building, the St Pauls Learning Centre was under threat of closure due to years of Government cuts and austerity. In May 2015 the building was put to tender via the Community Asset Transfer programme and caught the attention of The Ethical Property Company  (EPC), an organisation that began life in the area many years previously.  Recognising the value the Learning Centre brought to the community, the EPC could see clear potential to increase the Learning Centre's offering and become a hive of socially impactful activity with the help of EPC's building management expertise. The Ethical Property Company acquired a 15 year lease of the centre and since then have worked to create a self-sustaining and thriving community hub.

The Ethical Property Company is a social business providing office and meeting space to over 1,000 charities, not-for-profit organisations and voluntary groups across the UK each year. Tenants work in a variety of sectors from homelessness to refugee support, sustainable transport to animal welfare, drug rehabilitation to disability awareness and many many more, always with the aim of making our society and planet a better place for all. St Paul's Learning Centre logo
Sankofa

The St Pauls Learning Centre logo is based upon the Sankofa, a symbol that represents the importance of learning from the past. Sankofa is a word in the Twi language of Ghana that translates as "Go back and get it" (san - to return; ko - to go; fa - to fetch, to seek and take) and also refers to the Asante Adinkra symbol represented either by a bird with its head turned backwards taking an egg off its back, or as a stylised heart shape.
