About the event

Join us for the fourth Easton Cowfolk Radical Film Club night, Monday 10th February at St Paul's Learning Centre.

Doors: 6pm

Start: 6.30pm

We will be screening Zaynê Akyol's brilliant 'Gulîstan, Land of Roses' (2016), a film following a unit of the Women's self-defence forces of the Kurdish freedom movement, as they receive training and education in the Kurdish mountains to prepare for their struggle against ISIS and the Turkish state.

The film highlights the collective spirit and individual stories of revolution amongst the comrades, and in doing so covers the tenets of the movement: including women's liberation (jineolojî), social ecology, and democratic confederalism.

These will be further discussed and elaborated upon after the screening by a well-informed panel of activists and experts affiliated with the movement and its ideas, with audience participation encouraged.
