Babbasa supports low income and ethnic minority young people to prepare for the workplace as well as support employers to recruit diverse talent, develop cultural competencies and create inclusive work environments for all to thrive. The direct support for young people includes soft skills training, mentoring, and information and guidance support. The direct support for employers includes Recruitment, Inclusion Advisory Support, Cultural Competency Training, Research, Inclusion Needs Analysis and Onboarding Support. Over the next decade, Babbasa plans to grow its services to both young people and employers to respond to the pressing imperative to overcome the structural barriers to workforce inclusion and associated social inequalities in Bristol and beyond.

Job Purpose

Responsible for providing direct assistance to the Head of Youth Empowerment, in responding to the demands of the department. This post will be responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring all engagement and outreach activities. Co-delivering and deputising for Programme Leads in the delivery of Babbasa’s core programmes including events, mentoring schemes, and workshops.

Core Responsibilities

● Schedule, Coordinate and Monitor Engagement and Outreach timetable of activities ● Assist in the planning and delivery of core engagement activities and events

● Support Programme Leads in facilitating group sessions and workshops

● Register and induct young people into Babbasa or refer to other appropriate agencies

● Collate and produce weekly & monthly reports that capture young people’s outcomes as well as other success indicators for the Head of Service

● Regularly update and maintain CRM with stakeholder details and carry out related administrative tasks.

● Support and deliver inductions for Equal Opportunity Ambassadors, Mentors and Volunteers

● Inform newsletter content to young people and community partners that raises awareness of current opportunities and activities within Babbasa

● Attend meetings, create agendas and take minutes

● Keep diaries and arrange appointments and book meeting rooms

● Identify and undertake other duties as appropriate to this role

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience

● Experience of engaging with young people (aged 16-25) and/or community work

● Experience of building trusted relationships with a diverse range of people from different backgrounds and working environments

● Knowledge of collecting, reporting and understanding data

● Experience of using spreadsheets to present information

● Knowledge of and interest in Equality and Inclusion Desirable

● Delivering workshops and supporting young people 1-1

● Experience of social media and communications

● Knowledge of the principles of Child Protection and Safeguarding

Skills and abilities

● Excellent verbal and written communication skills

● Strong organisation and time management skills

● Commitment to work proactively with others to achieve team goals

● Able to manage own workload effectively and meet deadlines

● Able or willingness to present/facilitate a training session

● Ability to build rapport and develop trusting relationships with a diverse range of people including ability to establish positive relationships with young people

● Computer literate with capability to use standard office software

● Prepared to work flexibly, including some evenings, weekends or other unsocial hours
