Application Deadline: 06/09/2021 Hours: 22.5hrs Salary: £23,945 fte (£14,367 pro rata) Contract Type: Fixed term to 30 June 2022 Interview Date: 13/09/2021
We are excited to be recruiting a passionate and driven individual to our Community Development Worker post. This role will have a specific focus on building relationships and engaging with young people from the local Somali community (Bristol area).
It is widely recognised that young people from the Somali community often do not engage with services that can support their mental health and wellbeing for a variety of reasons. This role seeks to understand some of those barriers and work with the local community in order to promote and engage access, as well as building local knowledge and resilience.
This offer is part of a wider partnership with two local Somali Community young people's agencies. The OTR Community Development Worker will play an essential role in enhancing relationships, knowledge, signposting and referrals which appropriately meets the needs of the young people in the local community. You will help support this task by ensuring young people have a voice in offering feedback to inform service offer and provision, and this in turn will be utilised internally by wider OTR services to ensure that our offer is engaging and accessible for this community.
If you are motivated and have experience of engaging with young people, partners and local communities and want to support OTR in further reducing health inequality faced by certain communities, then we want to hear from you. The successful candidate will be passionate and energetic, with knowledge of the social and political context of mental health.
We encourage applications from candidates within the Somali community and for those whom English is an additional language.
